What You Can Do to Prepare for Professional Blind Installation

So, you’ve chosen to upgrade your space with custom blinds. Genius idea! Even if it’s the simplest blinds being installed in your home, or large motorised shutters for a workspace, there’s one final step before they’re ready to roll though: the installation. Our expert Glasgow and Hamilton-based blind fitters take care of the tricky part, but there are things you can do beforehand to make sure everything goes smoothly. Think of it as laying out the red carpet. Just not as you know it.
1. Double Check Your Order
It sounds obvious, but in the rare case that something has been updated or changed on your end (like a sudden paint job, or a window replacement), it’s always worth confirming your order details.
A quick checklist to go through before and after you buy is: do your measurements meet the room’s dimensions? Are the colours of the blind a match with other rooms in your home? Can a person access the windows where we’ll be installing the blinds?
2. Clear the Space Around the Window
This is the biggest help you can offer before we arrive: we only need a clear space to get started and don’t need tools, at least only if you count tea and cake as tools. To give our installers room to work safely and efficiently, try to:
1) Move the furniture a few feet away from the window
2) Take down curtains or rails if they’re being replaced
3) Clear window sills of plants, frames, or trinkets
4) Make sure any pets are secure (unless your dog’s a trained paw-fessional!)
3. Dust and Wipe Down the Area
We’re not judging your housekeeping here. Quickly wiping down the window frames and ledges with a cloth makes a big difference for the blind installation process, especially if you’re switching from old shutters that have gathered dust over time.
This helps your new blinds sit perfectly and stay looking fresh from day one. It also means that the entire process will involve a lot less sneezing for yourself and the installer themselves.
5. Think of Questions You Might Have
Unless it’s the tenth time you’re installing new blinds for your home this week, no question is too small. Want to know how to clean them? Curious about child safety precautions or automation features? Ask away.
Our fitters are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to show you the ropes once the installation’s done. We often find that people end up getting in touch after their shutters are installed, and so it can help to think of questions beforehand to make this part easier.
Sit Back and Enjoy the View
